I graduated from Prairiland High School, Paris Junior College, and Texas A&M-Commerce with a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis on Reading.
I also attended the University of North Texas where I studied Biology and Chemistry. I am CPR certified as well.
I continue my education taking leadership, differentiation, Capturing Kids Hearts, Dyslexia, Poverty, Eduhero, and technology training throughout the year.
This is my 6th year at Aikin, and my 13th in PISD. I currently teach 4th grade Science and Social Studies.
I started teaching in 1998 at Mt Pleasant Jr. High, teaching 7 th grade Science, Journalism, and Coaching Track and Girls Basketball. In 2004, I began my career with Paris ISD teaching 1st grade at Justiss Elementary. In 2011 I moved to Oklahoma and taught Science and English at Hugo Middle School where I was also Cheer coach. I taught 4th grade English Language Arts at Aikin for 2 years.
I have four children. Jordan 23, Lawren 15, Ashlee 13, and Tristan 5. Tristan is in Kindergarten here at Aikin! We live in the country and have horses, dogs, and mini-potbelly pigs.
When I am not at school, I am doing something with my family. We love summertime and we love to swim, ride horses, play softball, Tae Kwon Do, Church, gymnastics and cheer. We like camping, fishing, and the beach. I love to spend time with my kids. I love to read and I love the color purple!
