My name is Dee Hawkes. I grew up in Irving and moved to Grapevine/Southlake area where I finished high school from Southlake Carroll. Then after HS I moved to Paris and started college in the fall of ‘91. I graduated from East Texas State University, now Texas A & M-Commerce, with a bachelor's degree of science in education specializing in reading. I have taught 5th grade for 3 years, first grade in the classroom for 10 years, and 12 years as a Reading Recovery teacher. For the past 2 years I have been a reading/writing intervention teacher teaching small groups all day of all grades K-4th. This past year I have been focusing on grades 3rd & 4th and love it! I am located on the Aikin campus and have been employed with Paris ISD for the past 26 years.
I am happily married and have three great teenagers who attend Paris High. My son is a senior this year, and my twin girls are sophomores. Our pets are my 5 horses and 2 cats and a dog and a fish in my room at school. My family and I enjoy church activities at FBC of Paris, being with extended family, traveling & camping in our trailer, fishing, caring for/riding horses, sports, and keeping up with our kid's activities during the summer. Our favorite spots to camp in our RV are in Estes Park, CO and in Lexington, KY at the Horse Park. Our family has been to Niagra Falls in Cananda, and he & I went for a week to Sidney, Austraila several years ago! Love to travel but not much time for that since our kids have been in HS.
The best way to reach me during the day is by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org , phone message (903-737-7443). My conference time changes during the year accordingly as my schedule changes, so just call anytime, and I will get back with you if I can't come to the phone at that moment. I am almost always available from 3-3:30 after school.
